Tusker FC captain Charles Momanyi has emphasized the critical need for a strong start to the season as the team aims to contend for the FKF Premier League title.

The brewers will begin their 2024/25 campaign against Sofapaka on Saturday at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Reflecting on past seasons, Momanyi noted, “In the two seasons where we didn’t win the title, we failed to start strongly. We fell behind early, and by the time we tried to catch up, it was too late. This season, our goal is to have a solid beginning because we want to achieve something significant.”

After a rigorous six-week pre-season training, including a one-week stint in Kampala, Uganda, Momanyi feels the team is well-prepared.

During their time in Kampala, Tusker FC played three friendly matches, securing victories over Bright Stars and Kitara FC while drawing against Lugazi FC.

“The management did an excellent job facilitating the camp in Uganda. It was crucial for our preparation and for integrating the new players into the team, helping them understand the ethos of Tusker FC. We’ve built strong connections and gelled as a unit,” Momanyi explained.

Despite Sofapaka’s recent struggles with relegation, Momanyi is wary of underestimating them. “At Tusker, we treat every opponent with respect. We see every team as a challenge and approach each game with the seriousness it deserves. We’ve prepared thoroughly and are focused on securing a win,” the captain affirmed.
