Nairobi, Kenya, Oct 4 -Chaos broke out on Friday as activist Morara Kebaso was thrown out of the Bomas of Kenya where he had arrived to make his presentations against the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Tensions were high when Morara, who was accompanied by supporters chanting “Gachagua Must Go,” attempted to have his say during a public participation forum. There was chaos as he walked down the stairs.

Ruaraka MP T.J. Kajwang, presiding over the session, appealed for calm. “Young men, please don’t disrupt this meeting,” he urged.

Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi also pleaded, saying, “Order, order, order. Can you secure those papers? You can’t come to a meeting and then disrupt it. Everyone has an opinion.”

At first, Morara retreated to his seat. A few minutes later, though, some youths advanced towards him and furthered the mayhem.

Chairs soon flew his way as others tried to cover him from the mob. Morara desperately dodged them, running across the podium as the crowd now turned angry and threw chairs

Elachi again called for calm: “Please stop the violence. You can’t come to destroy a meeting. Let’s sit down. Those who came for public participation, sit down. Those who were mobilized to disrupt the meeting, leave.”

As the situation spiralled, Morara was eventually escorted out by a group of men while the crowd chanted “Morara must go! Morara must go!

As the police escorted Morara out, T.J. Kajwang remarked, “That’s the sweetness of Nairobi, we don’t want foolishness here.”

Later, Morara tweeted that he was injured and en route to the hospital, saying the chaos was meant to shut him up.

“I was barred from entering Bomas at the gate. When I finally got in, I was denied the mic. Chaos erupted. I am hurt. Headed to the hospital. I live to speak another day,” he wrote.
