DPP ISSUES DIRECTIVES AFTER DEAD BODIES RETRIEVED IN KWARE DUMPSITE
Following a recovery of bodies in Kware, Nairobi, the Director of Public Prosecution, Renson Ingonga, is scheduled to address the media on this issue today Friday at his office. He has also address the current status of other cases of bodies found in various parts of the country.
Director of Public Prosecutions Renson Ingonga has directed the Director of Criminal Investigations to probe the discovery of human bodies at the Kware dumpsite in Mukuru kwa Njenga.
Ingonga directed DCI boss Mohamed Amin to thoroughly investigate the recovery of the bodies and file the probe report with his office within 21 days to facilitate further action.
Ingonga said he is deeply concerned about the discovery of the bodies saying it paints a grave violation of human rights considering the dumpsite is only a few metres from a police station.
“Pursuant to Article 157 (4) of the Constitution, the DPP has directed the Office of the Inspector-General of the National Police Service to conduct a thorough investigation and forward the resultant file for perusal within twenty-one (21) days,” he said in a statement on Friday
Nairobi County residents in Mukuru slums were in shock on Friday after the discovery of nine human bodies at a dumpsite. Wrapped in sacks, the bodies were discovered by local youths about midday on July 12.
According to the police, some of the bodies had fresh blood while others were rotten. Preliminary investigations indicated that eight of the bodies belonged to women, some of whom had been charred to death, indicating they were murdered elsewhere before being dumped near Kware Police Station.
According to Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei, the deaths are being treated as murder. There are fears that more bodies could be discovered since the area was large and a bad smell was still perceivable in the area even after the removal of the nine bodies.
Multiple government agencies have been deployed to investigate the issue, which has shocked families. Authorities are committed to unraveling the truth and ensuring justice for victims and their families.
