Tusker FC assistant captain Michael Kibwage has rejected approaches from AFC Leopards to renew his contract with the club.

AFC Leopards were keen on the center back but he opted to remain at Tusker FC.

Kibwage expressed his enthusiasm about the extension of his contract. “I am excited to extend my time with Tusker FC. This club has been like a family to me, and I am eager to contribute to our future successes and support the team in every way I can.”

This extension underscores Kibwage’s dedication and continued contribution to the team’s success, the club said in a statement.

Kibwage, who has been a cornerstone of Tusker FC’s defensive lineup, has shown unwavering leadership and exceptional skill since joining the club. His commitment both on and off the pitch has been instrumental in our recent achievements and ongoing ambitions, the club added.

He clocked the most minutes in the team last season and was a key component of the team’s second place finish.

Commenting on the contract extension, Tusker FC interim coach Charles Okere expressed his excitement.

“We are thrilled that Kibwage has decided to continue his journey with us. His experience and leadership are invaluable assets to the team. He is a very key member of our team not just on the pitch but off it as well. He was a player we could not afford to lose. We look forward to achieving new milestones together,” Okere said.

His sentiments were shared by CEO Sam Nzau; “Kibwage is a key member of the team. Most of the young players look up to him and the leadership he gives in the dressing room is exceptional. He is a pillar of the team we are building and I am excited that he has agreed to continue the journey with us.”
