Protestants took to the streets of Nairobi Kenya on Friday to voice their concerns about the LGBTQ community. The protests came as a result of the supreme court decision that allowed a gay rights lobby to register as a non-governmental organization.

The demonstrators backed by religious groups marched to the Supreme Court in Nairobi demanding the resignation of three judges involved in the case.

The Kenya Human Right Commission (KHCR) and independent rights group termed this as a hate campaign.

“Now, this hate campaign is coming to the capital, and we know this will affect LGBTQ persons’ lives because previous street actions placed this group in harm’s way,” KHCR said in a statement.

Homosexuality is illegal in many east African countries.
