Olkalou, Nyandarua County – Police have mounted a manhunt for a suspect accused of brutally killing two siblings and leaving two others seriously injured in a shocking family attack in the Mundi area.

The incident, which occurred on September 4, left 29-year-old Elizabeth Wanjiku Ngugi dead at the scene after suffering multiple deep cuts to the face and neck. Her nine-year-old brother, who was also attacked, later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at JM Kariuki Hospital.

According to Nyandarua Central Subcounty Police Commander Samuel Kamau, the assailant—believed to be a close relative—fled the scene immediately after the attack. Police have urged him to surrender as multi-agency teams continue their search.

Two other siblings, aged one and 13, also sustained stab wounds and are currently receiving treatment. The motive of the attack remains unclear, though investigators suspect a possible family land dispute.

The bodies of the deceased have since been transferred to the mortuary as detectives pursue the suspect.

In a separate case, police confirmed the arrest of three suspects linked to the murder of Mary Anne Makini in Masaba, Nyamira County, on August 22, 2025. The suspects were arrested in Kibera, Kaplong, Longisa, and Magombo market, and are set to appear in court on September 8, 2025, as investigations continue.

Elsewhere, police reported six separate mob justice incidents across Trans Nzoia, Migori, Kisumu, Nairobi, and Makueni counties, where five people were lynched. Authorities strongly condemned the killings, warning the public against taking the law into their own hands.
