PRESIDENT RUTO SEEKS SUPPORT FROM THE CHURCH

President William Ruto recently sought support and prayers from the church over the new cabinet he is set to form in Kenya. While addressing the Ndogino AIPCA Church in Ndaragwa, Nyandarua County, Ruto added that it is divine guidance that will be important in picking the right team that is going to be instrumental in helping him deliver on his promise for the transformation of the country. He acknowledged challenges ahead but expressed confidence in leading Kenya towards prosperity.

Ruto’s speech showed belief in broad-based governance by asking for approval from the congregation to form a government of national unity. He outlined some of the economic priorities of his government: reducing debt to foreign lenders and tax breaks aimed at encouraging local manufacturing to alleviate unemployment. He spoke to public health, safety, and order, mentioning that drug abuse andisa would be tamed under an enhanced rule of law.

In the speech, the president voiced his stand concerning transparency and accountability in public office. He weighed his words on the proposed ban of public officers from participating in fundraisers to avert corruption. On matters to do with community development, he personally pledged to support the completion of the Ndogino AIPCA church.

Deputy Rigathi Gachagua also laughed off members of the First Family, saying the president is a hardworking man who needs to surround himself with a good team that will work. Apparently, he reiterated the progress made so far in dealing with illicit brews, cautioning political collaboration with suppliers of such substances.

It was not entirely a spiritual encounter as it also gave Ruto an opportunity to outline his administration’s policies and priorities to the public. His call for prayers is strategic in building public trust and unity to prepare them for dealings with the critical national challenges. In a few days, Ruto is set to appoint a new cabinet. The contents of his speech at Ndogino AIPCA Church show his hands are already full with populous utterances and what Kenyans can anticipate under his leadership.
