DCI CONFIRMS ARREST OF PRIME SUSPECT IN MUKURU BODIES` DUMPING

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations sealed the arrest of the key suspect , Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, in the killing of a number of women whose mutilated bodies were recovered from a dump site in Nairobi’s Mukuru slums.

The 33-year-old male suspect, according to DCI boss Mohamed Amin, was nabbed in the country’s capital outside a club in the Soweto area at around 3 a.m. in a joint operation between the directorate and the National Police Service.

He reportedly told the DCI boss that he killed the women between 2022 and July 11 2024; the first one being his wife. Amin said his arrest followed forensic analysis of one of the victim’s phone numbers, which had done an Mpesa transaction.

A subsequent search at the suspect’s house near the dumpsite, which led to the discovery of 24 sim cards, eight smartphones, a laptop, one machete, green sacks, and rubber gloves.

Others were six male ID cards, two female ID cards, one handbag, five rolls of bhang, a reflector jacket, two title deeds, and an undisclosed amount of money.

“It’s clear that we are dealing with a psychopathic serial killer with no respect for human life who even had carnal knowledge with some of his victims,” Amin said. “The suspect was, for sure, on the verge of luring another victim by the time of arrest,” said the DCI boss.

Amin says there could be a correlation between the incidents and the rise in femicide cases in the country. “He was a man with a fetish for beautiful women. We suspect these are revenge killings,” he said.

The investigation remains on the move. The house of the suspect and the place where the bodies were dumped remained active crime scenes.

He said that the Acting Inspector General of Police disclosed that they needed about 21 days to clearly finish the probe into the killings after confirming they have so far retrieved nine bodies in the area.
