Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has alleged that heavily armed individuals claiming to be officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) ambushed his convoy, opened fire, and took him into custody under suspicious circumstances.

In a series of posts shared on his official X account, Salasya revealed that around 1, masked men, armed with AK-47 rifles, intercepted his motorcade as he returned from a tour in Isiolo. The attackers reportedly deflated his vehicle’s tyres by shooting at them and disarmed his security detail before taking him away to an undisclosed location.

Details of the Ambush

According to the MP, the assailants had been tailing his convoy before cornering and immobilizing his vehicle on the highway.

“These individuals, claiming to be DCI officers, were heavily armed and operating with precision. They ambushed my convoy, disarmed my security personnel, and targeted my car, shooting out the tyres and rendering it immobile,” Salasya recounted.

He added that the attackers used his own vehicles against him:

“They hijacked vehicles in my convoy and blocked my path. My security and sound car, which were trailing behind, were unable to intervene. They isolated my car and took control,” Salasya explained.

A Chilling Encounter

The MP claimed that the gunmen delivered an ominous warning after confronting him directly:

“One of my security officers managed to escape, helping me briefly hide in nearby bushes. However, the attackers aimed their rifles directly at my car and later cornered me. They issued a chilling message that I cannot disclose for now due to security concerns,” Salasya stated.

The lawmaker further alleged that he was being transported to an unknown location and expressed fear for his life.

“I am currently being moved to a place I do not know. My life is in grave danger, and I urge the authorities and the public to be aware of these events,” he wrote.

Public Concerns and Call for Action

Salasya’s allegations have sparked widespread concern among his supporters and political allies, who are demanding an immediate investigation into the incident. The MP called on relevant authorities to take swift action to ensure his safety and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations and other security agencies are yet to issue a statement addressing the incident or confirming the identities of the attackers.
