Ruto nominates Renson Ingonga as next DPP - Kenyan News

Renson Mulele Ingonga has been been nominated by The Head of State Dr. William Samoei Ruto as the next Director of Public Prosecutions. The President has forwarded his name to National Assembly for vetting. He picked Ingonga from a list of 15 individuals interviewed for the position by the Public Service Commission. The interview exercise took two days, ending on August 2. If approved, Ingonga will replace Noordin Haji.                        

The position of the DPP fell vacant after former officeholder Haji was appointed the new National Intelligence Service (NIS) director-general, by President William Ruto. Haji served as DPP for August 2018. The tenure of office for a DPP is a non-renewable eight years. Before his nomination, Ingonga worked as an Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions.

Former IEBC commissioner Thomas Letangule, Francis Andayi, lawyer Danstan Omari, Taib Ali, Jacinta Nyamosi, Victor Mule and Tabitha Ouya were among the individuals who were interviewed for the role. Others were David Ruto, Winston Ngaira, Peter Mailanyi, Lilian Okumu, Jacob Ondari, James Ndegwa, and David Okachi.
