Nairobi, Kenya – May 2025: The family of 17-year-old Wilberforce Kisia, a rising dancer and online influencer from Kangemi, is demanding justice after his life was tragically cut short in an alleged assault by bouncers at the VVIP Rooftop Club.

Kisia’s death, confirmed by a post-mortem to be the result of prolonged assault, has left his family reeling and seeking answers. The incident has also raised questions about the safety and ethical conduct of club management and staff, as well as the presence of minors in such establishments.
A Promising Dream Ends in Tragedy
Kisia left his home in Kangemi on Sunday, May 11, with aspirations to grow his career as a dancer and performer. He had become well-known online and on stage, but his dream turned into a nightmare when he failed to return home.
“For four agonizing days, we searched for him. By Tuesday, we still hadn’t heard anything,” his brother, Kennedy Ambani, recounted.
The family grew increasingly alarmed when videos of Kisia performing at the club started disappearing from its social media pages.
“I called the club’s cameraman, and he told me, ‘If it’s about Kisia, go ask the management,’” Ambani added, describing the chilling realization that something was terribly wrong.
Witness Accounts Reveal Horrific Details
Eyewitnesses allege that Kisia was attacked by two security guards after a misunderstanding.
“He was dancing on the stairs when one bouncer grabbed him and handed him to another, who held him by the neck. That’s the last anyone saw of him alive,” said his other brother, Vincent Mudoga.
According to the family, Kisia’s body was hidden for nearly 24 hours before being reported.
A post-mortem later confirmed that he had died from sustained physical assault, including blows from a blunt object.
Arrests Made, but Justice Remains Elusive
Two bouncers have since been arrested in connection with the incident and are set to appear in court on May 21, 2025. However, the family continues to struggle with unanswered questions.
“They killed my baby,” said Kisia’s grieving mother, Joyce Kavai. “I keep asking why. Why did they kill him? But no one gives me an answer.”
Beyond mourning their son, the family is also questioning how a minor could have been working in a club, demanding accountability from the establishment.
“I want justice. My son didn’t deserve to die like this,” Kavai lamented.
A Call for Justice
Kisia’s tragic death has sparked outrage and calls for accountability, not only for the perpetrators but also for the broader system that allowed a minor to find himself in such a vulnerable situation. The family is urging authorities to ensure justice is served swiftly and transparently.
This devastating case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding young individuals and ensuring strict regulations within nightlife establishments.
