Moi University, located in Eldoret, has announced plans to auction livestock, including cows, donkeys, pigs, and dogs, alongside vehicles, in a public sale set for June 24, 2025. The event will take place at the institution’s main campus farmyard in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County.


Auction Details and Viewing Schedule

According to a notice issued by Vice Chancellor Prof. Kiplagat Kotut, the public is invited to view the animals and vehicles from Friday, June 20, to Monday, June 23, ahead of the auction.

The university has detailed the prices of various items:

  • Bulls and Bull Calves: Priced between Ksh.50,000 and Ksh.70,000 each.
  • German Shepherd Dogs: Available for Ksh.40,000 each.
  • Donkeys: Listed at Ksh.9,000 to Ksh.15,000 each.
  • Pigs: Ranging from Ksh.3,500 to Ksh.7,000 each.

Additionally, a Toyota Hilux vehicle will be auctioned with a starting price of Ksh.350,000.


Why the Auction?

While the university has not explicitly stated the reasons for this sale, similar public auctions often aim to manage excess inventory, raise funds for institutional development, or repurpose resources.
