A tragic road accident in Gichaka village along the Nakuru-Ol Joro Orok road in Nyandarua County has claimed the lives of five Indian tourists, leaving scores injured. The group was traveling from the Maasai Mara to Nyahururu when their mini-bus’s brakes failed, resulting in a fatal plunge into a ditch.


Details of the Incident
The ill-fated bus was descending a steep hill near Uhuru Comprehensive School when the driver, who survived the crash, lost control while navigating a sharp corner. The vehicle rolled multiple times before landing in a potato field, its roof completely torn off.
Local authorities, led by Nyandarua County Police Commander Stella Cherono, confirmed that five passengers died instantly. Emergency responders quickly rescued other injured tourists, who were rushed to Nyahururu County and Referral Hospital, St. Benedict Hospital, and Nakuru medical facilities for treatment.

A survivor recounted to Citizen TV that they heard a loud bang before losing consciousness, only to awaken in a hospital bed. Medical teams at Nyahururu County and Referral Hospital worked tirelessly to treat patients suffering from multiple injuries.
According to reports, a total of 25 tourists have been accounted for following the accident.
