Newly promoted Football Kenya Federation National Super League side Nairobi United will start their preparations on Sunday.
The newbies will camp in for two weeks ahead of their league bow, said chairman Samuel Born Maina. Maina said the team will train at Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho.
“We decided to have our pre-season camp away from the city’s distractions. We settled on Kisii because most of our NSL games will be in Western Kenya,” said Maina, a veteran journalist and communications expert.
He said he has lined up several build-up matches against local sides and fellow National Super League teams. “If possible, we want to have a friendly with KPL returnees Shabana. It will give my boys a good challenge,” Maina added.
He said he is keen to enter a partnership with the school. “I will hold talks with the school and agree on areas we can partner. Cardinal Otunga is a sports giant and I will be happy to work together with the school,” he added. Nairobi United was promoted to NSL alongside Luanda Villa and Rainbow FC.
At the same time, National Super League outfit Kibera Black Stars have unveiled Sammy Mukina as their head coach. The former League Ndogo coach is a CAF B holder and will be charged with helping the team qualify to the Kenya Premier League next season.
“I’m ready for the task ahead. NSL is a tough league but with the support from the management, we can achieve our objectives,” he said.
