The government says the price of unga will drop below the Ksh.120 mark in the coming days, attributing the drop in prices to its fertilizer subsidy program.
Speaking during a tour in the supermarkets, Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi said prices of many brands have dropped significantly, however, a comparative analysis of the same commodities across other outlets other than the ones the CS shopped, shows inconsistency in pricing.
“Depending on the brand, from over Ksh.200 to Ksh.130. we have seen Soko selling at Ksh.130 there is pika, and another brand called Tuimarike. So, there is no Kenyan who does not enjoy his meal right now, and I think this is the best Christmas Gift the Ruto administration is giving Kenyans,” said Linturi.
Kenyans had mixed views about the government’s position on the reduction in prices of basic commodities, with a majority saying they are yet to see the said drop in prices.
