Action between Migori Youth and Wazito at Migori Stadium

Migori Youth coach Kevin Oluoch is confident his side will overcome Wazito in the second leg of the FKF relegation/promotion play-off to be played at Muhoroni Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The teams played to a barren draw in the first leg played at Migori stadium last Saturday. Migori needs a win or a scoring draw to qualify for the Kenya Premier League while Wazito needs a win.

“The battle for qualification to the Kenya Premier League is in our hands. Luckily we did not concede in the first leg. I know Muhoroni is a hostile hunting ground but my boys are ready for the game,” said Oluoch.

He added: “This is a game we shall approach cautiously. We are not going to defend. We need goals so we shall attack them from the first minute.”

Migori Youth got a boost ahead of the game after Migori Governor Ochillo Ayacko gifted them Sh250, 000 on Tuesday when he hosted them for breakfast.

Should there be a tie on aggregate after the end of regular time in the second leg, the team with the greatest number of away goals shall be declared the winner of the playoff.

Additionally, if the teams are tied both on aggregate and on the away goals rule, the match shall proceed to penalties. The winner of the subsequent shootout shall secure a place in next season’s top tier.

Wazito FC will be fighting to maintain their top-tier league status while Migori Youth is seeking a chance to make their inaugural appearance in the FKFPL.

The winner will play Nairobi City Stars in the opening game of the 2023/24 season.
