FKF Kenya Premier League giants AFC Leopards have appointed Czech coach Tomas Trucha as their new head coach.

Trucha takes over from Tom Juma who was shown the door a week ago following a string of poor results.

This will be Trucha’s second stint at Ingwe after briefly coaching the team in the year 2020 before resigning in a huff citing threats on his life.

Confirming the appointment, AFC Leopards secretary general Gilbert Andugu said: “AFC Leopards Sports Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Tomas Trucha as head coach for two football seasons (2023/2024 and 2024/2025). Tomas Trucha, a Czech national, is the holder of a UEFA Pro license. He was, until recently, head coach of Kelantan United in Malaysia.”

Trucha will be assisted by former international striker Fred Ambani.

In the recent changes, goalkeeper trainer Lawrence Webo also left the club and was replaced by Hagai Azande while former midfielder Bernard Mangoli returns as team manager.

He takes over from Albert Wesonga who was elevated to the CEO’s position. The club’s CEO Victor Bwibo has also left the club.

The club’s physiotherapist Bonventure Odire was also shown the door in the massive changes at the club.

Ingwe will take on Bandari in their next fixture. Coincidentally, Bandari also sacked their coach Twahir Muhiddin with his assistant Francis Baraza taking over. AFC Leopards remains winless in the league so far.

At the same time, Gor Mahia edged Kahawa United 8-0 in a friendly match on Saturday. Benson Omalla struck a brace with Rodgers Ouma, Joshua Onyango, Lloyd Kavuchi, Austin Odhiambo, Geoffrey Ochieng and Paul Ochuoga scored a goal a piece.
