National Super League log leaders Naivas FC continued with their imperious start of the season after edging SS Assad 1-0 on Saturday.

Francis Nambute scored the crucial goal as Naivas remained unbeaten in the league.

Second-placed Mara Sugar walloped Vihiga Bullets 5-0 at Awendo Green Stadium. Reuben Okoth grabbed a brace with Yusuf Ochieng, Philemon Nyakwaka, and Samuel Otieno scored a goal apiece for the Cane Millers.

Nyakwaka, the league’s top scorer increased his tally to seven goals so far. Coach Francis Xavier hailed his charges for the comprehensive win against the former Kenya Premier League side. “I’m impressed by the win. We won comprehensively and scored five goals,” said the former midfielder.

Kisumu All Stars recorded their third win on the trot after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Kibera Black Stars. Nelson Amunga and Brian Steve scored for Kisumu All Stars while John Njoroge scored Kibera Black Stars’ consolation goal in the game that was played at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

In the Den, Kajiado County, Dimba Patriots, and newcomers Luanda Villa played to a barren draw.

In the Women’s Premier League, Ulinzi Starlets beat Wadaidia 3-0. Lucy Nato, Neddy Atieno, and Lavender Akinyo were on target for the soldiers while newbies Kenya Police thrashed Bungoma Queens 5-2.

Nakuru Queens beat Zetech Saprks 2-1. Nakuru scored through Lenah Wanjala after she was put through by Marceline Wafula while Wafula added the second goal after converting Monicah Akitza’s cross from the left flank.

On Sunday, Kibera Soccer Ladies will play defending champions Vihiga Queens as Bunyore Starlets tackle Trans Nzoia Falcons.
