Night Lugari has challenged more women to take up coaching courses in Kenya.

Lugari is among the 30 coaches currently undertaking their Confederations of African Football (CAF) coaching course in Buruburu Nairobi. She is the only woman.

“We want the field to be balanced. It’s unfair that I’m the only woman taking this course. I urge more ladies to attend coaching courses,” she said.

She hailed the course saying it’s very critical to have qualified coaches especially those handling upcoming players.

“The young players need a qualified coach to handle them. Someone who can give them the right techniques at a young age,” she added.

The national team Harambee Starlets is currently being handled by Beldine Odemba.

Football Kenya Federation secretary general Barry Otieno opened the month-long course.

He told the attendees to take the course seriously and encouraged them to further their studies.

Former Harambee Stars goalkeeper, Noah Ayuko is also part of the participants.

Ayuko currently coaches division one side VegPro FC and is keen on reaching even greater heights with his team.

Furthering his coaching education forms part of his priorities to enable him to impart the right knowledge to his players.

“I want to thank the federation for organizing such courses. This will help in the development of the game, especially at the grassroots,” said the retired goalkeeper.

The course will run for four weeks under the tutelage of veteran coaches and CAF instructors Salim Ali and Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno.
