Kenya Police’s quest for the 2023/24 Football Kenya Premier League title has suffered a blow after the league’s top scorer last season Elvis Rupia aka Machapo left the club.

Rupia is set to join Tanzanian side Singida Fountain Gate FC, Kenya Police confirmed on their social media.

“Thank you Elvis Rupia MACHAPO for the moments we shared, we the KENYA POLICE FC wish you all the best in your future endeavors,” the club posted on their Facebook account.

The former Nzoia and AFC Leopards striker will link up with other Kenyans veteran defender Joash Onyango and midfielder Duke Abuya. Singida will represent Tanzania in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Rupia and Abuya are currently in Doha, Qatar where the national team Harambee Stars will play the hosts in an international friendly match.

He notched 27 goals to finish the league as a top scorer. He was absent last weekend as Police succumbed to a 3-0 loss against Posta Rangers at the Police Sacco Pavillion.

The law enforcers have signed former Gor Mahia and South Sudanese striker Tito Okello.

Kenya Police coach Francis Baraza said the departure has left a dent in the team but remained optimistic that the team will do well without him. “He got a good offer and the management allowed him to leave. We wish him well in Tanzania,” said Baraza.

He was non-committal if the club will seek to sign a replacement before the transfer window is closed. Ends
