Twenty-five coaches have graduated with a CAF B license after an expensive four months of training.
The number of CAF B-qualified coaches has now increased to 75 in Kenya. The graduation ceremony took place at the Kenya Institute of Special Education.
The list of graduates includes notable names in Kenyan football, Harambee Starlets Assistant Coach Mildred Cheche, Ann Aluoch, Coach for Mathare United Ladies, Kenya Police Assistant Coach Salim Babu, Nairobi City Stars Coach Nicholas Muyoti, and Naivas FC Coach Collins Omondi.
These new CAF B coaches, armed with enhanced knowledge and skills, are now ready to put their training into practice with their respective clubs.
This practical experience is essential for their next step which is eligibility for the six-month CAF A class.
Throughout the course, these coaches delved into various subjects, including periodization, football science, and media relations. These valuable skills are expected to contribute to an overall improvement in the quality of football in the country when applied within their respective clubs.
During the closing ceremony, Football Kenya Federation CEO Barry Otieno emphasized the significance of these coaching courses for the development of football in Kenya.
He highlighted how the federation’s key priorities, which include women’s and youth football, stand to benefit from these initiatives.
“The federation’s key priorities are women and youth football. To create an enabling environment for both to thrive, we must empower our coaches with essential skills and knowledge that can be implemented from grassroots levels, nurturing quality football players,” said FKF CEO Barry Otieno.
The course was conducted under the tutelage of Salim Ali and Leonard Odipo.
