Popular Kenyan filmmaker and producer Philip Karanja, better known as Director Phil, has stirred social media conversations after subtly unveiling his new relationship.
The Phil-It Productions CEO recently shared an intimate Instagram story featuring Mukami Maina, who is no stranger to fans of his ex-wife, celebrated actress Catherine Kamau, popularly known as Kate Actress.
Mukami, who previously worked as Kate’s personal assistant, is now the woman in Director Phil’s life. Their soft launch—captured in a cozy photo with a toast—quickly set the internet abuzz.
Kate Actress, however, responded with elegance and maturity. She posted a lighthearted video with Mukami, captioned: “To happiness Baby girl Mukami Maina,” signaling her acceptance and well wishes for the new couple despite their shared past.
Director Phil and Kate Actress were married for six years before publicly confirming their separation in September 2023. Since then, Kate has also moved forward in her personal life and is happily dating entrepreneur Michael Mwangi.
The two have openly shared their blossoming romance on social media, from luxury trips in Bangkok to birthday getaways in Zanzibar. Kate has even affectionately referred to Mwangi as her “beard man,” adding that she feels deeply “loved and well kept.”
