Saturday, September 6, 2025 – Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended the main suspect linked to the brutal murder of Faith Kemunto, a young woman who was preparing to join Machakos University before her untimely death in July 2025.
Investigations reveal that Faith had returned home from Nairobi on July 27, 2025, to get ready for her university admission. On that day, she reportedly left home to meet her boyfriend, identified as Gidion Angisa, but tragically, she never returned.
Her sudden disappearance prompted her family to file a missing person’s report at Nyamuri Police Station. Despite intense searches, both Faith and Gidion could not be traced.
Detectives later uncovered that Gidion had gone into hiding in Nairobi’s Huruma Estate. After a meticulous manhunt, he was smoked out of his hideout and arrested. Shockingly, he was found in possession of Faith’s mobile phone.
Following his arrest, the suspect was transferred to Nyamira and is currently detained at Ekerenyo Police Station. Meanwhile, a body believed to be Faith’s was discovered buried in a shallow roadside grave. The remains were exhumed after the Nyamira Law Courts granted an official order.
DCI homicide officers, together with forensic experts from the National Forensic Laboratory and local Nyamira police, are spearheading the investigation. A 21-day custodial order has been issued as detectives piece together the evidence surrounding the chilling murder.
