Residents of Kinoo were left in disbelief after a 23-year-old man was arrested while posing as a schoolgirl in a daring attempt to secure employment as a househelp.

The man, who introduced himself with a convincing feminine voice as Millicent Kemunto from Kisii, claimed he was searching for his mother, a vegetable vendor operating in the area. To strengthen his cover, he dressed in a full girl’s school uniform.

However, suspicion grew after the phone number he provided turned out to be switched off. Police officers at Kinoo Police Station spent several hours verifying his story before uncovering the shocking truth.

The suspect was later identified as Kelvin Mong’are, who confessed that the unusual disguise was part of a calculated plan to land a househelp job.

The bizarre incident quickly spread across social media, sparking heated discussions. Many netizens warned families to exercise extreme caution when hiring domestic workers and urged thorough background checks to avoid potential risks.

Parents and online users alike emphasized the importance of confirming identities and intentions before welcoming strangers into their homes, with some describing the incident as a “wake-up call” for households across Kenya.
