Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has stirred fresh controversy after boldly declaring that Mugithi singer Samidoh remains deeply obsessed with her despite their highly publicized breakup.
Engaging with a fan online, Nyamu alleged that Samidoh’s hit track Toxic Love was in fact dedicated to her following the end of their turbulent relationship. She further stressed that she was the one who ended things, dismissing claims that the singer walked away.
Nyamu went on to cast doubt on the relevance of marriage, arguing that women who are financially independent do not necessarily need husbands. According to her, many women in marriages are simply putting on a façade to impress society.
“When a woman is financially stable, what she truly desires is the freedom of being a single mother,” Nyamu remarked, sparking widespread reactions across social media.
Her sentiments have divided opinion online — with critics accusing her of belittling marriage, while supporters praised her for voicing what they described as uncomfortable but honest truths.
