In a viral post that has sparked widespread debate across social media, South African lawyer Milton Hosea has issued a powerful reminder to parents about the hidden impact of conflict at home.

Hosea, who shared the message on his Facebook page, questioned why couples go to great lengths to protect their children from witnessing intimacy, yet openly engage in heated quarrels in front of them.

“You hide when making love so your children won’t see you. Good,” he wrote. “But why don’t you also hide when you want to quarrel?”

The lawyer stressed that children are highly observant and internalize the emotional atmosphere around them. Regular exposure to arguments, shouting, or hostility, he warned, can create lasting psychological scars—shaping their future relationships and even diminishing their respect for marriage.

“Children don’t forget what they see,” Hosea emphasized. “Let your home be a sanctuary of peace, not a battleground. Love loudly—but fight quietly.”

His message has resonated with thousands of parents and educators who argue that children need stability, affection, and a sense of security in the family unit. Parenting experts also support the idea that managing conflict away from children helps build trust and reduces the risk of emotional harm.

The viral post has since gone beyond South Africa, stirring conversations across Africa and beyond, with many agreeing that Hosea’s words are a timely wake-up call for families navigating modern pressures.
