Congolese striker Fiston Kalala Mayele has confirmed that he is leaving Tanzania giants Yanga SC after two years.

The striker who helped Yanga to the league title in the last two seasons has moved to Egyptian side Pyramid FC where he has signed a three-year deal; the move coming despite the player being linked with moves to Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.

Pyramids will be participating in the CAF Champions League for the first time in their history and wanted to boost their side with proven players; Mayele arriving having been last season’s top goal scorer in the CAF Confederations Cup where his seven goals helped Yanga reach the final of the competition.

The deal to Pyramids is said to have earned Yanga $1.2M (about Tshs4.3B) with the club set to invest the amount on new players to replace the departing faces.

Mayele joined Yanga in 2021 from AS Vita and won the golden boot plus claiming the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.
