Shape up or ship out, that was the message from Shabana vice chairman Wycliffe Ayienda to players.
Ayienda read the riot act to the players during a training session on Wednesday.
The vice chairman said the management was unhappy with their performance in the last 10 games.
“The management, fans and other stakeholders are not satisfied with your performance. It’s time to up your game. We expect positive results starting with the game against Nzoia Sugar on Saturday,” said Ayienda.
He said cases of indiscipline will not be entertained and asked the players to respect fans.
“We have confidence in you. We don’t deserve to be in the relegation zone. Our target this year remains maintaining our status in the Kenya Premier League,” added the VC.
At the same time, the club’s captain Bernard Otieno and his assistant Peter Ogechi have been stripped of their positions with immediate effect.
Defender George Onyango was named the new club captain and will be deputized by Justine Omwando aka Maasai as first assistant captain and defender Rodgers Aloro as second assistant captain. Otieno and Ogechi were accused of incitement.
The changes were announced at the team’s first training session after the sacking of coach Sammy Okoth and goalkeeper coach Collins Oduor on Monday.
The club’s assistant coach Kevin Momanyi was demoted to the development side.
Oscar Kambona was named the interim coach and he will oversee the team’s games until a new coach is named.
