FKF Premier League side Bandari FC has accused Sofapaka of illegally fielding their player Amos Asembeka.
In a letter to FKF secretary Barry Otieno, Bandari said Asembeka has a valid running contract with them and draws monthly salaries.
Bandari chief executive officer Tony Kibwana said the club has not granted the former Sony Sugar, Tusker, and Wazito FC player any release letter neither has it released him on Kenya Connect portal.
Further, Kibwana said the club has not terminated the contract of Asembeka but had talks with the player through his lawyer to ensure a mutual termination agreement was reached but has not been reached.
Asembeka played for Sofapaka in games against Kenya Police at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on October 21, Tusker on October 28, and KCB on November 1.
Kibwana added that Asembeka has a valid contract with Bandari for one and half years from February 2023 to June 30 2024. “Bandari wishes to therefore seek clarification and explanation as to why the player was eligible to play in the aforementioned matches in the FKF Premier League,” concluded the CEO.
According to the transfer procedure, before a player’s move is deemed complete and he is registered on a system as another team’s, a release letter, a termination letter or a notice of termination or a copy of the contract indicating expiry of the contract must always be produced and attached on the system.
On the system, the selling club is expected to approve or reject the move/transfer of a player. However, on special occasions, the federation can release a player and/or authorize the move. Ends
