Salim Babu is back at FKF Premier League side Kenya Police as head coach.

Babu took charge of the team’s training on Thursday as they resumed after the festive season break.

Head coach Zdravko Logarušić left the country for Christmas a week ago.  The club is likely to part ways with the no-nonsense Croat.

On Friday, Babu confirmed that he was back and conducted training. He was the team’s assistant under Francis Baraza and Lugarusic.

“I’m back as the Kenya Police head coach. I took charge of training on Thursday and I’m headed for training today,” he said on Friday morning.

Babu differed with Logarusic three weeks ago after he returned from the National Under 18 team which took part in the CECAFA tournament in Kisumu.

He ordered Babu out of the team’s training and said he should not be paid for the period he was with the national team.

Later, the Croat clashed with the club’s senior players forcing the management to exclude him from the team’s game against Tusker which they lost 1-0.

Babu had initially been linked with a move to struggling Shabana. He even held talks with Tore Bobe and was given a contract according to a source. “It appears he played us and used our offer to seek a huge pay at Kenya Police but that’s life. We wish him well,” said a source at Shabana.

Shabana’s search for a head coach continues according to the club’s chairman Jared Nivaton Ombongi. “We hope to finish this business of head coach by the time we go into the second leg of the season. I appeal once again to our fans to be patient,” said Ombongi.
