National Super League side Mara Sugar technical director Boniface Ambani has criticized coach Vincent Nyaberi for quitting the National Super League after just two games.

He termed Nyaberi’s move to dump Mara Sugar for rivals Mully Children’s Family (MCF) as unprofessional. He will take over from Robert Orangi.

“What Nyaberi did to Mara Sugar is something I have never seen before… It’s crazy. Don’t burn bridges, you might want to use it when coming back,” said the former international striker.

He was reacting to Nyaberi’s move to leave the Trans Mara based side on Friday.

“Kenyan coaches have some respect, please. When you are looking for jobs, you are desperate. You make hundreds of calls day and night. But when you get an offer elsewhere, you don’t even call or just have the courtesy of informing the management of the club that hired you. You just leave. You resign on your social media. It’s unprofessional,” said a livid Ambani.

He noted that veteran coaches Robert Matano, Jacob Ghost Mulee, Francis Kimanzi, and Sammy Omollo Pamzo have had successful careers because of being professional. “

They take time when they get new offers and respect their immediate employers,” noted Ambani.

Nyaberi, a former defender said he got a better offer at MCF. “I was offered a salary of KSH28,000 at Mara Sugar. I got a better offer and contract at MCF. I opted to leave,” said Nyaberi, a former Shabana and Murang’a Seal coach.

Nyaberi faces a herculean task to lift MCF from the bottom of the second-tier table.
