Gor Mahia clinched the FKF Charity Shield title following their 4-2 post match penalty win over Kakamega Homeboyz after a 1-1 score in regular time.

With no team seeing the better of the other in the first half, Boniface Omondi opened the scoring proceedings with a sumptuous goal after connecting well to a Chris Alfa pin point corner kick but a blunder from keeper Caleb Otieno allowed Eric Ambunya to restore matters just eight minutes later.

Gor Mahia scored all their penalties bar for Sydney Wahongo with Homeboyz missing their kicks through Stephen Opoku and Robinson Kamura; Lyson Muyonga delivered the decisive penalty that secured their first silverware for Johnny McKinstry this season.

The game was a curtain raiser for the 2023/24 FKF Premier League that is set to commence on August 26, 2023, with eight action-packed matches lined up for the opening day.

Among these fixtures, we have the exciting matchup between newcomers Shabana and Muranga Seal, both determined to make their mark in the league when they face each other. Gor Mahia will begin their campaign against Sofapaka on a day that Homeboyz will be hosting KCB FC.
