AFC Leopards has suffered a major blow after five players were ruled out of their game against FKF Premier League log leaders Posta Rangers on Saturday at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Langata, Nairobi.

“Lewis Bandi has been out due to a stubborn knee injury, he is due for arthroscopy (a procedure for diagnosing and treating joint problems) to repair torn his meniscus. The same procedure will also be done to our young goalkeeper Abubakar Musha,” said the club in a statement posted on their social media accounts.

Veteran goalkeeper Levis Opiyo is also set for an ultrasound on his knee to establish the cause of the pain. He has missed the club’s three games in which Humphrey Katasi replaced him.

“Cliff Nyakeya is still on treatment after recently suffering a calf muscle injury while captain Washington Munene is recovering from an ankle injury and has started return-to-play exercises,” the statement concluded.

At the same time, AFC Leopards’ coach Thomas Trucha has blamed the team’s blunt forward on their poor run. He challenged his forwards to be sharp in front of goal.

“Scoring goals is the problem. From open play, we are not creating enough and even the ones we create, we are not scoring. We need to be hungry enough in front of goal to score more. We need to be composed and dangerous in the final third,” said the tactician.

Separately, former Sofapaka FC  and Harambee Starlets head coach David Ouma has joined Tanzanian Premier League side Coastal Union as head coach.

“Welcome to Coastal Union coach David Ouma. A successful and tactical coach with a CAF A license. After dominating the Kenyan game, welcome to Tanzania,” read a statement of the club’s social media pages.
