Kenya Police FC Zdravko Logarusic is on the brink of being sacked.
Logarusic was on Wednesday absent from the bench when the team played Tusker FC in a mid-week Kenya Premier clash at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
The team’s goalkeepers’ coach, Abdul Iddi Salim took charge of the team. Assistant coach Salim Babu is also away from the team after he was chased from training by Logarusic.
Logarusic was unhappy with Babu’s absence from the team for one month. Babu was the head coach of the national U18 team during CECAFA U18 Boys tournament in Kisumu.
Yesterday, Babu said: “I’m at home in Migori for Christmas break. Let’s talk matters football after the holiday break,” he said.
According to reports, there is a rift between Logarusic and the team’s senior players.
A source at the club said the relation between Logarusic, some senior players and some members of management is irredeemably broken. “The club’s management will make a decision on his fate by Thursday. I don’t think he will stay at the club,” said a source.
At the same time, National Super League side Mara Sugar will name a new head coach before the league resumes from the festive season break. “We shall appoint a coach by early January. We already have the names but we have not settled on one,” said Team Manager Thomas Mboya.
Two previous Mara Sugar coaches Francis Xavier and Vincent Nyaberi resigned. Nyaberi joined Mully Children’s Family while Xavier joined Sofapaka as an assistant to Ezekiel Akwana. He later resigned.
