FKF Premier League side Shabana is expected to unveil a new coach on Wednesday, secretary general Elizaphan Kerama has said.

“The club’s executive committee is meeting on Wednesday at 2pm to make a final decision,” Kerama said on Tuesday.

The club shortlisted former Kenya Police head Francis Baraza and current assistant coach Salim Babu for the position.

Baraza or Babu will take over from Sammy Okoth who was sacked alongside goalkeeper coach Collins Oduor due to poor results.

Baraza, a former Shabana defender and captain is favourite to land the position. “We want to unveil the new coach but interim coach Oscar Kambona will be in charge of the game against Posta Rangers on Saturday because he has been with the boys for the last two weeks,” said Kerama.

He added that the new head coach will have a free hand to pick his assistant coach and goalkeeper trainer but the club’s management will have to vet them before the appointment.

Shabana will face Posta Rangers at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Saturday in an early kickoff. It will be interim coach Oscar Kambona’s second game in charge.

Two weeks ago, he masterminded the club’s 2-1 win against Nzoia Sugar at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay. It was Shabana’s first win at their adopted home.

According to Kerama, the new coach will be tasked with not only helping the club maintain KPL status but also finishing in a respectable position.

“Actually our target is a top 10 finish despite the poor start. I’m also confident that we shall do well in the Mozzartbet Cup,” noted the SG.

The Glamour Boys sit 13th on the log with 10 points from 11 matches.
