Ulinzi Starlets and Kenya Police Bullets played to a 2-2 draw In the FKF Women Premier League on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Ulinzi Sports Complex.
The first half was fast-paced witnessing four goals with two for each side. Ulinzi Starlets took the lead within the first minute of the match when Joy Kinglady floated in a cross that was headed in by Kihara Linda shortly after Neddy Akoth found Fasila Adhiambo who scored a wonderful volley from the edge of the box. Ulinzi went 2-0 up within the first 30 minutes.
However, Kenya Police Bullets recovered from the early setback pulling one back through Lydia Akoth in the 38th minute of the match after a scramble in the penalty area. Swiftly after their first, Police Bullets found an equalizer through Rebecca Okwaro tying the match just before halftime.
The second half saw both teams try to get the winner. An opportunity presented itself for Ulinzi Starlets in stoppage time when they got awarded a penalty but Mishi Mbaru saved it and secured a point for her team.
In other matches, Bungoma Queens secured a 2-1 win in Ruiru against Zetech Sparks, goals from Catherina Khaemba, and a winner from Winrose Wanyama gave the Bungoma side the lead.
Elsewhere, Kibera Soccer ladies secured a 3-0 away win over Nakuru City Queens. Nany Atako scored a brace with the first of her goals coming in the 10th minute and another in the 41st minute sending her side into the halftime break with the advantage. Lucy Njeri scored a third in the second half to secure all three points.
Vihiga Queens stays top of the rankings after round 5.
