The Kenya U20 Rugby team ‘Chipu’ were hammered 64-10 by Zimbabwe in their fifth place play-off at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

The youngsters have had an underwhelming outing in the playoffs and the latest defeat bringing an end to that spry display with their Sunday opponents finishing fifth after the win.

In a one sided contest, Zimbabwe had a 21-0 lead after twenty minutes with things getting worse for the hosts when Brian Oduor was sent to the sin bin for a poor tackle. Zimbabwe capitalized on the extra man as they landed two more tries before the half time break with one converted successfully to put the scores at 33-0.

Simbarashe Kanyagarara continued from where the Zims left in the first half and while Kenya earned their first points in the game in the 54th minute through Faran Juma and James Tsinalo giving the home crowd some consolation, the damage had already been done.

In the earlier matches, Scotland Under 20 side put on a show to behold as they thrashed Samoa 83-10.
