The final slot in the National Super League is yet to be decided after the playoff match between Zoo FC and Nairobi United was called off sue to crowd trouble.
While most though United had been given the green light to be promoted since they had scored the goal which was contested by Zoo fans who stormed the pitch, Football Kenya Federation released a statement stating that the game would be decided by its disciplinary committee.
In a statement, the Federation said:” The Football Kenya Federation Men’s Division One League Playoff between Nairobi United and Zoo has been abandoned.
“This decision, occasioned by crowd trouble in the 85th minute, was arrived at to guarantee the safety of the players, match officials, fans and support staff. At the time of the abandonment, Nairobi United had just gone ahead courtesy of an 80th minute goal by Brian Lusamukha.
“Consequently, the FKF Leagues and Competitions committee shall make a decision on the match upon receipt of the match officials’ reports.
“The winner of the match shall gain promotion to the FKF National Super League alongside Division One Zone A champions Rainbow and their Zone B counterparts Luanda Villa.”
