FKF Premier League side Mathare United has confrirmed the return of coach John Kamau.
Kamau replaced Francis Kimanzi who helped the Slum Boys return to the top tier league last season.
The former Posta Rangers and KCB head coach first led the team during the second leg of the 2021/22 campaign, a season that would ultimately be declared null and void.
Joining Kamau as part of our new-look technical unit are Mohammed Muchula, Dismas Onyango, and Ambrose Oriko.
Muchula, who most recently served as an assistant coach with Mombasa Stars, will reprise this role and work as Kamau’s first assistant.
Onyango, who stepped away from the team last season, returns as Trainer while Oriko is our new team Physiotherapist.
Kamau and his team have already begun work, gearing up for our return to the topflight for the 2024/25 season.
At the same time, the club confirmed goalkeeper Michael Wanyika as their first signing of the season.
The immediate former Ulinzi Stars custodian adds much-needed experience as the club return to the Premier League after a season in the NSL.
Wanyika has played in the topflight for the last 10 seasons since debuting for Thika United in the 2013/14 season.
Apart from Ulinzi Stars and Thika United, he has also lined up for Vegpro FC where he began his career as well as Kakamega Homeboyz and Bandari FC.
At Bandari, he got his first taste of continental football when the coastal outfit qualified for the CAF Confederations Cup in the 2019/20 season.
The 32-year-old has also been in the frame for the national team Harambee Stars, earning several call-ups during Sebastian Migne’s tenure as head coach. Ends
