As the Football Kenya Federation National Super League (NSL) concludes on Sunday, all the attention will be on the battle for a play slot.
Third-placed Naivas FC and fourth-placed Nairobi United are battling for the NSL/FKF Premier League promotion and relegation play-off against Sofapaka.
Naivas has a tricky fixture against SS Assad at Ukunda Showground in Kwale County while Nairobi United travels to Bomet for a date with relegated Silibwet Leons.
Naivas has accumulated 73 points and Naibos 72. Naibos will hope Naivas drops points in Kwale and go for a win against Silibwet to be assured a slot in the playoff.
The first leg of the playoff will be on Saturday, July 6, 2024, and the second leg on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
Nairobi United coach Edwin Mwaura says they are going for an outright win. “We have had a good campaign and deserve a playoff slot. Our prayer is that Naivas drops points at the Coast and we win our game against Silibwet,” said Mwaura.
Separately, 17th and 18th placed Mombasa Elite and Kajiado are battling to avoid relegation.
Mombasa Elite hosts Mulembe United as Kajiado travels to Kisii for an encounter against relegated Gusii FC at Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho.
Mombasa Elite needs a draw against Mulembe while Kajiado needs a win and hopes that Mombasa Elite loses their game.
