Outgoing Gor Mahia coach Johnathan McKinstry has bid the club farewell after what he termed as two wonderful seasons.
The coach has left the club for The Gambia where he will be the Scorpion’s head coach.
“While I may be moving on, part of me will always remain here, at K’Ogalo. I’ll be your biggest supporter from afar, cheering you on to even greater success,” he said in his farewell letter to fans, players and staff.
He hailed the fans, players and staff for their overwhelming support. “To the fans, your roar has echoed in my ears since I arrived. You have been the 12th man on the pitch , driving us to achieve incredible things,” said the tactician.
He added: “To the players, you gave your all on the pitch dai in day out. Your talent, dedication, and fighting spiritare what made the past seasons unforgettable.”
McKinstry hailed the staff for their dedication behind the scenes. “Your work behind the scenes has been invaluable. You are the unseen heroes who make magic happen,” he noted.
The tactician added: “Together, we have achieved some incredible things. From uncertain beginnings under the transfer ban and a lean squad to two consecutive league championships and a Charity Shield win. These are memories I’ll forever cherish. These trophies are a testament to the hardwork, passion, and belief of everyone at the club.”
The club has begun the process of recruiting a new coach, ahead of their return to the CAF Champions League. Despite winning the league last season, the club did not participate in the competition after failing to meet Club Licensing requirements.
