KCB Rugby Football Club has confirmed the departure of head coach Curtis Olago, after the expiry of his contract.

The coach will leave on August 31, 2024 when his contract expires, the club said in a statement.

This marks the end of an era for the coach who has been at the helm since 2011.

Under Olago’s leadership, KCB Lions achieved unparalleled success, securing the Kenya Cup title five times.

His tenure also saw the team win two National Sevens Circuit titles, five Great Rift 10s, three Enterprise Cups, and numerous floodlit rugby titles.

His influence extended beyond the club, as he served as the assistant coach for the Kenya Fifteens side at the national level.

Olago’s legacy at KCB Lions is one of remarkable achievement and dominance. He maintained an unbeaten record in the National Sevens Circuit for two years, leading the team to victories in 2014 and 2015.

Additionally, his strategic prowess brought home the Great Rift 10s title five times and the Enterprise Cup thrice.

As KCB bids farewell to Olago, the club acknowledge the indelible mark he has left on the club and the broader rugby landscape in Kenya.

“His departure signals the end of a golden chapter, filled with triumphs and an enduring impact on the sport. KCB Lions extends its heartfelt gratitude to Coach Curtis Olago for his exemplary service and leadership for the past 13 years and wishes him well in his future endeavors 001,” the club’s statement said.

The club named Oliver Mang’eni as Olago’s replacement at the Den.
