Shabana players celebrate after their win against NZOIA FC

Mathew Tegisi grabbed a brace on his debut as Shabana thrashed hosts Nzoia Sugar 5-2 at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma County.

Midfielder Justine Omwando also scored twice while Mark Okola was also on target for the struggling Kisii-based side. Omwando was named the man of the match.

Salim Murunga and Victor Maliachi scored Nzoia Sugar’s consolation goals.

It was a winning start for Shabana’s newly appointed coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo. When he was unveiled on Thursday, Pamzo promised to save the beleaguered side from relegation.

“It’s a morale-boosting win for us. We seriously needed this win and we did it convincingly. We now turn our focus to the next game against Ulinzi Stars. It’s a must-win game for us so that we move out of the danger zone,” said Omollo.

Midfielder Mohammed Ali scored the all-important goal as Nairobi City Stars recorded their seventh straight win in the league. Simba wa Nairobi cut Gor Mahia’s lead at the top of the table to seven points.

South Sudanese international Tito Okello scored the lone goal as Kenya Police edged Bidco United 1-0 while Ulinzi Stars and KCB battled to a barren draw at Ulinzi Sports Complex.

AFC Leopards beat Muhoroni Youth 1-0. Jaffary Owiti was on target for Ingwe. Talanta beat Murang’a Seal 1-0 at St Sebastian Park.

Tusker’s fine form continued after a 3-1 win over Sofapaka at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Eric Kapaito, Fabian Akidiny, and Levin Joseph were on target for the Brewers while Keegan Ndemi scored Tusker’s consolation goal.
