The Kenya National U17 Girls Team, the Junior Starlets will face a baptism of fire at the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup
Kenya was on Saturday night handed a tough draw for the tournament that will take place in the Dominican Republic in October.
Junior Starlets were in Pot 4 during the draw conducted by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) on June 23, 2024, in the host nation, the Dominican Republic.
The girls, who will be making their maiden appearance in the competition, are grouped with Korea DPR, Mexico, and England in pool ‘C’. Korea has lifted the tournament twice and lost in the finals once.
The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2024 will be held in the Dominican Republic from October 16 to November 3, 2024.
Kenya’s first match will be against England on Thursday, October 17, 2024. Zambia and Nigeria are other African countries that will participate in the tournament.
Kenya coached by Mildred Cheche sealed a place in the tournament two weeks ago after a 5-0 aggregate win over Burundi.
Group A: Dominican Republic, Ecuador, New Zealand, Nigeria
Group B: Spain, USA, Korea Republic, Colombia
Group C: Korea DPR, Mexico, Kenya, England
Group D: Japan, Poland, Brazil, Zambia.
