Kenyan International Brian Onyango joins South African Side Stellenbosch - Kenyan News

South Africa Premier League side Stellenbosch has confirmed the signing of Kenyan international center back Brain Mandela Onyango.

Onyango joins the PSL side on a free transfer after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of last season. The defender also played for Santos and Maritzburg United in South Africa.,

Onyango, 30, joins Stellenbosch with a wealth of experience to his name and boasts a track record of over 200 career appearances in South Africa.

 Speaking on the signing of Onyango, Stellenbosch chief Executive Officer Rob Benadie said: “Brian is a player who has enjoyed a great success during his career and we are looking forward to adding his experience and winning mentality to our squad.”

Benadie added: “He has been brought to in to bolster our defensive line and we have no doubt that he will make a valuable contribution towards both our domestic and continental ambitions.”

Onyango becomes the first Kenyan player to represent Stellenbosch and will wear the number 2 jersy this season.

Onyango is the second Kenyan to join the Betway Premier League after goalkeeper Ian Otieno. Otieno 30, signed for Richards Bay three weeks ago.

He will replace Jackson Mabokgwane. Otieno joined the club from Zambia’s Red Arrows. He previously played for AFC Leopards, and Posta Rangers in the FKF Premier League.
