Kenyan schools recorded impressive results in rugby 15s and 7s at the ongoing Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association games in Mbale Uganda.

In rugby 7s, Kisii School enjoying the support of Chief Principal Fred Mogaka and board chairman Patrick Nyagosia recorded mixed results losing 12-7 to Vihiga Boys before recovering from the loss to beat Kiira from Uganda 36-0.

Vigiha and national champions Friends School Bwake played to a 7-7 draw in a repeat of the national finals.

St Mary’s Yala popularly known as the Black Saints beat Dr Obote 36-10. In another game, national champions Friends School Bwake overcame Gitisi from Rwanda 32-0.

In rugby 15s All Saints Academy Embu and Butula Boys qualified to the semi finals after winning two group stage matches. Butula Boys beat compatriots Kitondo School 42-3 while All Saints beat Lenana 45-11.

In hockey, St Anthony’s Kitale started their hunt for a regional trophy with a 2-1 win over St Charles Lwanga in Kenyan affair while in the girls’ category, Nyamira Girls walloped Namagunga 5-0. Kenya’s champions Tigoi Girls and Kakungulu Memorial played to a barren draw.

Hospital Hill narrowly beat Manus from Tanzania 23-22 while Saniak also had a 17-15 win over Tanzania’s Bunda.

In the girls’ category, Murinduko from Kenya Kenya overcame Kwanthanze Girls 15-9.

Kenyan teams found the going tough in 5×5 basketball. Kenya’s defending champions Dr Aggrey was sent packing after 78-70 humiliation at the hands of Tanzania’s Juhudi.

Dr Aggrey also lost 80-69 to Buddo Secondary. In 3×3 basketball, Friends School Kamusinga beat Onjiko School 17-10 as St Joseph’s humbled Buddo 16-15. Sawagongo also defeated Buddo 14-8.

In 3×3 basketball, Butere Girls beat compatriots Raila Education Center 12-10 while St Joseph’s Kitale also had a 12-10 win over Nasokol Girls. Ends
