MATUTU PAG TO FACE KODEROBARA IN KISUMU ON WEDNESDAY IN NYANZA REGION SCHOOLS FINAL - Kenyan News

Matutu PAG secondary school has faulted the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association for hurriedly scheduling the Nyanza region boys’ soccer final between them and Koderobara High.

The game will be played at Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Wednesday.

The game was postponed from Saturday last week after Agoro Sare appealed against Matutu PAG for allegedly fielding ineligible players in their 2-0 loss at the semi finals.

The game which was played at Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho was abandoned in the 75th minute.

Suspected Agoro Sare fans caused chaos forcing the abandonment of the game. Scores of people among them Matutu PAG coach Joseph Ongoro and three players were injured.

The jury chaired by Nyanza Regional Director of Education Lawrence Karuntimi  on Monday dismissed the appeal against Matutu PAG.

On Tuesday, Ongoro who suffered a dislocated shoulder said three players are yet to recover from the injuries.

“There was no need to hurry the game. We still have enough time because the nationals will start on July 19,” said Ongoro.

The coach however said they will play despite missing the three key players who were injured in the chaos. “That decision is beyond our control as a team,” added Ongoro.

The final was moved to Kisumu, a neutral venue because of the anticipated crowd trouble. The game will be played behind closed doors.
