Musingu High School restored Kenya’s pride after a comeback 202 draw against Uganda’s Amus College at the ongoing Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association in Uganda.

Musingu coach Brendan Mwinamo praised his charges for showing character despite twice falling behind against the hosts.

“Being the opening game, the boys played well. I look forward to an improved performance in the upcoming games,” said the veteran coach.

Kenya’s defending champions suffered a 2-0 loss against Uganda’s St Mary’s Kitende. In the girls’ category, Butere Girls and St Joseph’s Girls Kitale played to a barren draw while Butere Girls defeated Amus College 2-0.

Kenyan teams impressed in rugby 15s with All Saints Embu beating defending champions St Mary’s Kisubi 24-23 in the opening game which was closely contested.

In another game, Lenana School narrowly overcame Namilyango College 10-7 in another tough match.

Butula Boys walloped Kings College 60-0 in a one sided game while Kitondo overcame Makerere 16-10. Rugby 7s kicks off on Tuesday with Kisii School locking horns with Vihiga Boys while Kenya’s defending champions Bwake will be up against Gitisi from Rwanda.

In the girls category, St Joseph’s Kitale will battle compatriots Nyagichenche while St Theresa’s and Kinale will battle it out.

In handball, Kimilili Boys had a flying start after beating compatriots Saniak 31-24 while in the girls category, Moi Girls Kamusinga lost 22-17 to Kibuli from Uganda. Murinduko also from Kenya battled to a 22-22 draw against Gombe Secondary School.

In boys’ basketball, Kenya’s Agoro Sare upset hosts Amus College 56-54 in a tough match while in the girls’ category, St Noa Girls from Uganda beat Butere Girls 67-41 as Buruburu Girls beat Nabisunsa Girls 55-45.
