Tusker coach Charles Okere has has refused to blame the defense despite the team throwing away two away two goal leads in the last two games.
“We can score five goals, but we have conceded the same number. It means that the strikers are working and now, that puts the spotlight on how we defend as a team because defending starts from up top,” said the coach.
He added: “We cannot blame the defense but we take the blame as a team. It is a worrying trend especially because we concede goals from a winning position. We need to have the character to defend our leads.”
He revealed that they done a lot of work to correct on some areas that did not do well in last match against Kakamega Homeboyz last weekend.
“We conceded twice and so we have done some work on our defensive shape as well as team organization. We moved from a loss to a point so at least, we can say there are a few positives as well,” he noted.
He admitted that they are under pressure ahead of their encounter against Kenya Police on Sunday.
“There is always pressure in football. Even when you are winning, there is always pressure to maintain. Yes, there is pressure but we are working together as a technical bench and the players as well to try and correct the mistakes. We have had some disappointing results in the last two matches, but I believe we have addressed what we thought was not working,” he noted.
