The coastal city of Mombasa is set to play host to the 11th leg of the NCBA Golf Series this Saturday, 24th May.  At least 150 golfers are expected to take part in the tournament, as they compete for a chance to secure a spot in the Series Grand Finale later this year.

The golfers will be competing for their chance to secure a spot to play in the tournament’s finals, with winners emerging in the Overall Men Gross Winner, Overall Lady Gross Winner, Division 2 Men & Lady Winner, Division 3 Overall Winner, and Junior Winner.

In addition to the qualification slots, there will also be a hole-in-one prize on offer, a brand-new JCB 3DX Backhoe Loader, courtesy of a partnership between NCBA and JCB Ganatra.

The Nyali event follows the recently concluded 10th leg of the Series, which was held at Kakamega Sports Club this past weekend. Home players James Mundia and Cedric Konzolo stood out among a strong field of over 100 golfers.

Mundia, playing off handicap 9, carded a solid 69 nett to win the Overall Nett title. Meanwhile, Cedric Konzolo continued his fine form in the series by claiming the Overall Gross Winner title with a round of 77 gross, playing off scratch.

In the ladies’ category, Irine Ashioya (handicap 17) posted 95 gross to take home the Overall Lady Gross title.

In Division 1 (handicap 0–15), Jimmy Akhonya won with 71 nett, edging out Bruce Madete (hcp 16), who also scored 71 nett but settled for runner-up on countback.

In Division 2 (handicap 16–30), Mikal Kombo claimed the win with 72 nett, followed by Lilian Kong’ani with 75 nett.

In Division 3 (handicap 31–54), Rosemary Nanyama returned an impressive 68 nett to win the category, with Kihoto Njuguna finishing second with 69 nett.

The Junior Winner was Elvis Mbakaya (handicap 15) from Kakamega Sports Club, recognized for his promising performance.
